Job Description

𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 State Bank of India is the country's largest public sector bank, serving millions of customers across India and internationally. Established with a rich legacy of financial service, SBI operates through thousands of branches, regional offices, and specialized processing centres across the nation. The bank is renowned for its stable work environment, structured career progression, and comprehensive employee benefits. SBI's Central Recruitment and Promotion Department (CRPD) has released a fresh notification for the recruitment of Specialist Cadre Officers in the Trade Finance domain on a regular basis. This opening is ideal for banking professionals with hands-on experience in trade finance operations, forex transaction processing, and international business documentation. 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 SBI is hiring Trade Finance Officers at the Middle Management Grade Scale II (MMGS-II) level through a specialist cadre process. These officers will be placed at centralized processing centres and will handle trade finance and forex-related back-office operations on behalf of SBI's nationwide branch network. The role demands a sharp professional who can review financial documents, process transactions accurately, meet regulatory standards, and work with multiple internal and external stakeholders. Trade Finance Officers at SBI work within a defined framework of RBI, ICC, FEDAI, and bank-specific compliance norms. This is a specialist cadre position, which means there is no provision for lateral movement into the General cadre of SBI. Candidates who apply should be fully aware of this and must be genuinely interested in a long-term career in trade finance and international banking operations. Selection Process Selection for the Trade Finance Officer post at SBI is a two-stage process: Shortlisting followed by a Personal Interview. There is no written examination for this recruitment. 𝐒𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐞𝘀𝘀 (𝐒𝐭𝐞𝐩 𝐛𝐲 𝐒𝐭𝐞𝐩) Step 1 — Application Submission Candidates apply online with all required documents on or before 02 June 2026. Step 2 — Shortlisting A bank-constituted committee reviews all applications and shortlists candidates based on their qualification, experience, and suitability. Simply meeting the minimum eligibility criteria does not guarantee a call for interview. Step 3 — Personal Interview Shortlisted candidates are called for a personal interview. The interview carries 100 marks. The qualifying mark will be decided by SBI. Interview venue and schedule will be shared only via email or on the official website. Step 4 — Merit List Preparation The final merit list is prepared in descending order based on interview scores alone. In cases where two or more candidates score identically at the cut-off mark, older candidates (higher age) are ranked above younger ones. Step 5 — Document Verification & Medical Fitness Selected candidates must present original documents for verification and clear a medical examination as per SBI's requirements before receiving a formal offer of appointment.
